Training Seminar in “Inter-comprehension among romance languages : a vector for linguistic and cultural linkages between continents”

Last July 5-7, 2010 a training seminar was held in the Department of European Languages of the College of Arts and Letters of the University of the Philippines-Diliman, co-organized with Union latine and the Embassy of France to the Philippines, with the support of the Commision on Higher Education of the Philippines, the Delegation of the European Union, the Embassy of Spain, the Embassy of Italy and the Instituto Cervantes. The Agence universitaire de la Francophonie was involved as well.

Organized in the framework of the first centennial of the Department of European Languages of the College of Arts and Letters of the University of the Philippines-Diliman, the seminar intended to primarily inform in detail about the new approaches used and then propose sessions on the practical and methodological foundations of current projects.

Based on the analysis of the learners’ needs in various contexts, on the concept of partial competence, taking into account the proximity among languages, with its various relationships, and on the frequent use of information and communication technologies in education, it proves to be an economical and enriching solution, culturally speaking.
